May Open Day 2011

Open Day with Corners

It was decided to have another Open Day in the village hall and to publicise it as much as possible. In the event we had only a few visitors and they had come through Joan Firmin’s flyer in Sainsbury's. However even one interested visitor is welcome because they may join us in due course.

We did not make a big display of work but put examples of what we do on tables on the platform. It was very interesting and colourful so a great shame that more people had not seen it.

However, we all had a chance to try something new in the four corners. Jean Ackermann was on hand to demonstrate Japanese braiding, Norma McCall who is famous for her lovely jackets knitted from squares gave us an opportunity to have a go at making the squares ourselves. Jan Haines was “scrumbling” which is something quite different again and Diane Stewart had several pupils trying out Tunisian crochet.
